Top of the South Community Foundation (‘the foundation’) confirmed a donation of $9,500 to help Nelson Budget Service meet the growing demand for its services.
Nelson Budget Service provides financial help to people in need. Services include budgeting advice, developing short & long term goals, advocacy, liaising with creditors and support agencies, and supporting clients through insolvency options when debt becomes unmanageable. As well as meeting individuals and family groups, the team provide educational seminars to community groups, school groups, workplaces and tertiary institutions.
the foundation Executive Officer, David Kerr, said “the services offered by Nelson Budget Service are closely aligned to one of the core priorities of our funding partnership with The Tindall Foundation. A lack of budgeting skills is often seen as the underlying problem when people present at foodbanks and emergency housing providers. This donation will help Nelson Budget Service to be able to deliver their services to more people, helping them to improve their understanding of what it means to manage their money and to budget where applicable .
