In the first round in 2017 we were delighted to support the following organisations:
LifeLinc Nelson received $5,000 to support and grow their Couples Counselling service. This face-to-face counselling service is a relatively new support option offered by LifeLinc.
SASH-Nelson, Sexual Abuse Support & Healing Inc received $4,000 to support the cost of employing specialist trained staff. SASH-Nelson provides professional services to women, children and their families in the Nelson Tasman region as well as providing education and support of colleagues in Marlborough.
Whakatu Te Korowai Manaakitanga Trust (Te Korowai) received $5,000 to assist with promoting and providing financial literacy and budgeting services to Maori and Pacific Island whanau across Nelson and Tasman. Te Korowai provide a confidential, free and independent option for whanau who want to improve their financial management skills.
Citizens Advice Bureau Nelson Tasman received $1,030 to purchase a computer needed to support the training of its volunteers. The CAB responds to over 3,000 enquiries per annum and works closely with many other community organisations.
Nelson Community Foodbank Trust received $3,000 as a contribution toward fuel costs incurred by volunteers delivering food parcels. The Foodbank provides a valuable service helping those most in need, and this couldn’t be achieved without the commitment of volunteers.
The Community Foundation and The Tindall Foundation acknowledge the wonderful work of each of these organisations in supporting our communities across the Top of the South.
