Nelson City Brass Band

Nelson City Brass Band has established a Community Group Fund with the Top of the South Community Foundation to ensure the music keeps playing for generations to come across the region.

Nelson City Brass Band has been providing entertainment to the Nelson and Tasman community for nearly 170 years, serving as the official band of Nelson City Council and playing a proud role in civic life across the region.

We currently have three bands operating, our premier band, ‘social’ band, and youth band ensuring there is a place for musicians of all ages and abilities.

Through our youth and school development programmes, our members freely give their time to teach and train young people from a wide range of diverse and ethnic backgrounds.

The pinnacle of success for a brass band in New Zealand is the National Championships - giving our senior band the opportunity to perform, compete, learn and grow alongside some of the best musicians in the country.
